We decided to record a video starting out from the general consideration that the exposure to nature and natural environments is particularly beneficial, having a positive impact on health and well-being.
The video is about 6 minutes and mainly focused on a nature walk. It was shot at the end of March in the part of the lake and forest near the Lapinkaari dormitory.
We chose to record the video while the lake was frozen and the forest covered with snow because we believed it is very representative of Finnish winter time but also because of the unique positive effects on health, energy and happiness of snowy weather. Recording the video was also a special occasion for us to spend time together in nature, taking full advantage of its benefits.
In the editing of the video, we added relaxing and calming music to facilitate relaxation while watching it.
We thought of the elderly as the main target group for this video, but it can be absolutely suitable for other people, for instance children, anxious people, people with reduced mobility and so on.
The video is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aby_Byjl4ao.
We uploaded the video in the VR glasses and tested it first hand, then with some exchange students as well as Finnish ones (not only from social services course but from other faculties) in order to have several international perspectives and opinions, and with some children of Sunshine early learning centre, where Laura did her practical training.
Thank you for reading!
